Natural Rubber Daily: “Dual Support” Stabilizes Prices

On October 8, the STR20 price index in Qingdao's natural rubber market was $2600/ton, unchanged from the previous trading day.
Overseas Supply
In southern Thailand, excessive rainfall disrupted tapping operations, limiting raw material output. In Vietnam, production areas continued to experience overcast skies accompanied by rain. Intermittent rains affected tapping progress, leading to fluctuations in total output. It is expected that the logic of reduced supply in the short term will support raw material prices to remain firm this week.
Domestic Supply
In the Yunnan region, there was no recorded rainfall, and latex output gradually increased. However, fierce competition among processing plants to secure supply kept procurement prices firm.
In the Hainan region, brief rainfall occurred, causing a certain degree of disruption to tapping operations. Overall procurement prices stopped falling and slightly rebounded.
Demand Side
During the National Day holiday, the range of companies conducting maintenance shutdowns widened. Some companies planned to resume production around October 5, and the rate of operations continued to decline during the holiday. As companies gradually resume production this week, the rate of operations is expected to gradually recover. However, high raw material costs will squeeze profits, and it may be challenging for operational load rates to return to normal levels in the short term.
Overview of Futures and Spot Prices
Market Summary
After the holiday, the support logic for the natural rubber market remains clear, with dual resonance from macro and industry factors. At the macro level, expectations of reduced supply driven by the Super El Niño phenomenon continue to evolve, and bullish sentiment in capital markets may persist, providing emotional and forecast-based support for rubber prices. At the industry level, new rubber supply pressure is limited in the short term, and the tight raw material situation remains unchanged. On the demand side, as production gradually resumes after the holiday, tire factory operating loads are expected to increase, and procurement demand will gradually recover. Macro expectations and industry realities combine forces. Overall, rubber prices continue to receive dual support, and the market is expected to maintain firmness in the short term.
